I’m having a Spring renewal with my body. Spring and resetting my habits have always been very significant for me when it comes to some of the biggest personal changes I have had in my life.
One of my biggest decisions happened many years ago, in April, when I made the life-changing decision to finally shun diets, yet still work at losing weight. I looked inside myself and did a whole lot of significant inner work in addition to staying consistent and eating lighter, more nutrient-dense foods.
I lost the weight I had set out to lose and have kept it off ever since (hear more about my story on the Real Food Stories podcast).
Spring is the perfect time to reset our eating habits, but why Spring? Let’s face it. After a long, cold winter of indulging in comfort foods, the time just feels right to reset and take a look at our health goals and revise (if necessary) or simply get back on track and start fresh.
Here are some more solid reasons why spring has always been a great time to reset my eating habits.
Seasonal Produce
Spring is the season when nature is at its best. The produce during this time of year is fresh and abundant, making it the perfect time to add more fruits and vegetables to our diets. Eating seasonal produce not only tastes better, but it’s also healthier as it’s packed with essential nutrients and antioxidants that are great for our bodies.
Lighter Meals
As the weather warms up, our bodies naturally crave lighter, more refreshing foods. This is the perfect opportunity to switch up our meal plans and incorporate more salads, smoothie bowls, and other lighter meals that are packed with nutrients and will leave us feeling energized.
More Physical Activity
With the warmer weather and longer days, we are more likely to be outside and engage in physical activity. This is the perfect time to get active and start incorporating more exercise into our daily routines. Eating healthy foods can help fuel our bodies and provide the energy needed to stay active.
Spring Cleaning
Spring cleaning is not just about cleaning our homes; it’s also about cleaning up our diets. This is the perfect time to get rid of any processed or unhealthy foods that may be lurking in our pantry and fridge. Replacing these foods with healthier options will not only help us feel better but will also help us achieve our health and wellness goals.
A Fresh Start
This is my favorite reason. Spring is a time for renewal and growth. You can’t help but see it in nature. And it is happening within us too. It’s the perfect opportunity to let go of any bad habits and start fresh. By resetting our eating habits, we are giving ourselves a fresh start and setting ourselves up for success in achieving our health and wellness goals.
Spring really is the perfect time to reset our eating habits. With the abundance of fresh, seasonal produce, the desire for lighter meals, more physical activity, and the opportunity for a fresh start, there’s no better time to start making healthier choices. By incorporating more whole foods, fruits, and vegetables into our diets, we can improve our overall health and wellness and feel our best.
